Dear Friends and Customers,
I attempted to write this once and it disappeared, so here is my second attempt.
This past Friday marked our 45th anniversary. On May 1, 1981, with the help of my first wife and my parents, I purchased Walt's Restaurant. We were quite brave back then, as Walt's was open 24 hours a day. Looking back, it is hard to imagine staying open that much; these days, I can hardly make it until 2:00 PM.
At that time, a cup of coffee was 40 cents and a petite breakfast was $2.00. For just three dollars, you could enjoy a meal and leave a tip. Forty-five years later, we have become FlapJacks and now close at 2:00 PM.
I have so many fond memories of our customers over the years. I hope there is a Heaven where I can eventually hang out with all of them again—though if I end up in the other place, I’m sure I’ll know plenty of people there, too.
Thank you all for 45 wonderful years.
