My son thought it would be fun to try a drone again. This would be our fifth attempt, and I thought why not. So we are working on putting it together and learning how to use the app at the dining room table. Well, the previous day my older daughter had gone out and picked an assortment of flowers and place them in a vase on the dining room table. So we think we are ready to turn this baby on and so we do. It doesn’t go up, it goes directly to the flower arrangement and starts decapitating and shredding these flowers throwing bits and pieces everywhere. It just stays there until there is nothing left but stems. Ricky and I of course are screaming at each other because we know the consequences, and then try to act nonchalant when my wife asks what is going on. Remember a few weeks ago when I spoke about what a good actor my son was when he was caught doing something wrong, well no one will ever say that about me.

Well folks we are not allowed to seat inside and as much as I hate that, it is the right decision. The cases in the county just set a new record, and I was feeling uncomfortable. So we added another row of seats outside at FlapJacks and added more seats outside at Country Waffles. Folks, it is what it is, and although none of us like this we have to stay on top of it.

So besides seating outside we are back to curbside pick up using the phone, Doordash or Chownow. Thanks for understanding.

It is such a sad state when we as seniors cannot remember where we hid the cookies. I mean it leaves us in such a precarious position because naturally, our first thought is they ate all the cookies. This is where it becomes sad. No matter how well they can act, when they give you that look like, “ok, do we put them in the nursing home now?” you know it is bad.

OK, so the thing now is to WEAR A MASK, I do not mean a Halloween mask either. You can also tell people are getting really crazy about everything right now. We had someone yell at us at FlapJacks about the mask issue, and at Taylors we had an all-out fight where my employees were trying to pull two men apart over a parking space. I think now is the time we should all be drinking more to get us through this temperamental time. When it is all done we can all meet up at an AA meeting and tell our stories.

Oh and thanks, Peggy.

Well, there are good stories, sad stories, funny stories, unusual stories, and long stories. You decide.

So I got stuck going to get something for Taylors, and so I got home near dark. Now the baby rescued peacock is in its own enclosure, next to the chicken coup. So when I went to check on him I didn’t see him. I went around to the other side to see all the chickens sitting outside. I was too busy to contemplate the reason why. So I grabbed a chicken and tried to bring it in but it jumped out of my
hands and ran. So I get in and to my sad amazement and there is a half-eaten peacock in the chicken side. I am completely confused because it would be very difficult to go from one side to the other. Up to
this point I had not seen anything out of the ordinary. OK, outside of trying to teach my daughter to drive I can’t remember the last time I was totally horrified. As I raised my head to look around I see 2 feet from my face a large bird of some kind hanging upside down staring at me. I panic, the bird panics and the dogs run in to see what is going on. Apparently, an owl had flown in the chicken coup for dinner when I caught him in the act. Now this creature tries to escape but can’t and ends up on the ground. Now he just sits there and stares at me and I haven’t a clue as to what to do. I try to pick it up but realize that it wasn’t going to work. So I go out and get a stick and try to push it out, but it won’t go. Everybody is barking or squawking and things are getting a little crazy. So finally the owl grabs the stick and I manage to carry him out. I place him in a wheelbarrow where he sits up and finally flies away. Now I am going to put this story out everywhere so no one else will choose us to rescue anything.

Well, the cases of COVID-19 in Sacramento County are increasing much faster than any of us had hoped. I will continue to limit seating. It is now a requirement that everyone comes in with a mask. They will
need to wear it until they eat. Outside, is still the safest, and I will not require a mask outside, but most people want to come inside. I am thinking of having my son play his drums inside to coax people to sit
outside.

Folks here is  a link to an article on how successful masks are in preventing the spread of the virus:

We always seem to end up in unusual circumstances. My daughter likes any unordinary living things that moves, and a friend of ours told her that he had a baby peacock that needed to be rescued, and that she would be perfect to rescue it. My wife and I were taken aback by this, but we couldn’t say no, so we are now in the possession of a baby peacock. Not having had one before, I looked it up and apparently they squawk really loud. Now, when I had the dogs barking at night my neighbors complained and I had to debark the dogs, so my first question is, can you de-squawk peacocks? My second question is, how do I keep my dogs from eating this precious bird. My pragmatic self thinks I should just run a lunch special.

The cases in our county do not appear to be going down as we all hoped. I had someone tell one of my competitors was placing plastic around booths and seating almost every table. I would much rather be safe than sorry, and that is just not safe. We are dealing with a very transmittable virus that would not treat our demographic very well. We will try to leave 2 empty tables between parties, but remember it is much safer outside.

Oh, and thank you to Lisa and Tim for your wonderful notes and cards.

Thank you to everyone.
