So on the days I go to Flapjacks, I get up at 5:00 in the morning and take the dogs out for a walk first thing. It is very dark out in the country, and you are always cautious as to what you might run into. So we get out to the road and I hear a dog barking next door, like it is in their front yard, but they don't have a dog. So I am concerned someone's dog is loose.
After about 15 seconds of barking, there is silence. Then the barking is replaced by a squawking sound, but it is in the same tone as the barking. This goes on for about 15 seconds, and then there is silence again, followed by an owl hooting. Very strange. We had a parakeet that used to mimic our dog's bark, so I am assuming that this was an owl mimicking the dog and the raven. Or it was a raven mimicking the other two, but I don't think a dog could do either.
In any case, and as always, I was very confused. The interesting thing was, my dogs didn't react at all to the dog barks, so they knew it wasn't a dog. It bothers me again when my animals are smarter than me.
