Ok, so a few weeks ago I let it be known that I introduced Cooper to Jake the parakeet. Well, Cooper has let it be known that his friendship is not what it appears. Jake just loves Cooper and always wants to fly to him when I let him out of his cage. I always make sure that I hold Cooper when I let Jake out and sometime Jake will land on my head to be close to Cooper. Cooper, however, wants nothing more then to eat Jake. I try to explain to him that if he eats Jake, their friendship is over and he and I will be sleeping in the goat barn for eternity. I also try to explain to Jake that Cooper just thinks he is a snack, but they both get so excited to see each other, I continue to take chances.

We have a definite problem at our house and I am beginning to think that there must be a hungry spirit from alternate dimension involved because a human being just could not do this. First off,I go to get the sour cream out again for baked potatoes and someone had eaten it again. Then I go into my son’s bathroom to look for a charger to my electric razor. 2 of the drawers won’t open, and the last one I open, what do I find but 3 empty cans of clam chowder and 2 empty cans of ( what else) pineapple. There was also this blue thing growing in there, but I was afraid to touch it. So then I go into the kitchen to get a bowl and they are all gone. I mean they are all gone and we usually have 12 bowls. So I am confused, if this spirit eats out of a can, why does it need a bowl in the first place?
Folks my friend Don Curley is in the hospital and I just wanted him and his family to know how much I appreciated him all these years. He is a great guy and wouldn’t you know it, he is a celebrity. He used to own 9 restaurants in Florida and actually golfed with Donald Trump back before Trump ran for office. Don told me what they talked about, but I cannot print what was discussed. I have included a picture of Don with his friend JJ out in front of Flapjacks. I just want to say, Don, you are a great guy and I hope you get better.

So, as you know my son has learned to act all on his own. No theater classes, just perseverance. When he tries to convince me that he did not eat the pineapple or clam chowder, tears will form in his eyes. This boy has talent. Well Cooper has been paying attention. To teach Cooper, now when he goes out to do his business, he gets a treat if he goes potty. Well the little SOB has learned to raise his legs and do nothing else. I will go and check and see, no liquid of any kind. So I hold back the treat and then he gives me this ultra sad look like he is going to break down and actually cry. I gave him his treat, what are you going to do, I mean he was better than my son.

Ok, do I write about missing cans of Clam Chowder? Or, do I write about how Cooper has learned to pretend to pee in order to get a treat? Or do I write about a terrible story. Sorry folks, I am going for the tragic story. This is not for the faint of heart, and you may want to have a glass of wine if you read it.
A family friend is staying at our family’s house in Tuscany. While he is there he decided to check out the memorial at a small town nearby called Santa Ana. During World War II, when the Italians surrendered to the Allies, the German Army felt betrayed and started taking retributions against the Italian civilians. They went into this little community of Santa Ana where the Catholic Church held Sunday Mass. The men were mainly at war and so the only people attending Mass were mainly women and children. The German soldiers went in on a Sunday morning and massacred the entire community. Since my father was there and working for the American army, I have always known about this atrocity. However, I didn’t know there is a picture on the wall of the memorial of most of the people who were killed. The friend sent us the picture and it is so sad, because the photo includes the photos of all these children and many of them were part of large families. I know this is old news, and if anyone wants I can show them the photo, but it just reminds me of how terrible war is and it just makes me feel for those poor people in Ukraine.
