Sept 6 - 12

It is so fun to be in the restaurant business right now.  When you place an order with our supplier you hope that it comes, and if it does come you hope that most of the products are on the truck. At FlapJacks we got tiny napkins we would use at Taylors and at Taylors we got large napkins that won’t fit in the dispensers. When we order bacon, we hope that we get bacon, and of course then you hope it is real bacon. When we try to interview someone over the phone we offer them $3.00 an hour more then we used to only to have them never show up for the actual interview. Then of course there are the days you find out a key employee got COVID while they were visiting relatives or you find out they were just at the zoo when they got COVID.

Any way if you come in and find us a little frazzled, please excuse us. I was actually hosting today in my shorts and tennis shoes. Hopefully things will improve but until then, please forgive us, or just bring us alcohol.

Folks, I will soon require all my employees to get vaccinated or they will have to get tested weekly. I do not see any reason to not get vaccinated. NONE. Now this may make things more difficult because some employees still refuse to and so we may lose employees. At this point, if we have to close 2 days a week but I feel it is safer we will do that. Anyway, it is sure fun to be in the restaurant business right now.

Aug 30 - Sept 5

So the wife is getting a new dog, a Cavapoo, to be exact. This puppy is so smart and supposed to be so special it doesn’t require any training of any kind. The only thing is, it is suggested that there should be no "bad" training. I am not sure what they mean by bad training, but it was inferred to not feed the dog at the dinner table. It was also inferred to not get the dog too excited after it eats because it could have digestive issues. It was also inferred the dog should not shower with us, nor chase the mailman, nor watch violent movies, and last of all to not let the dog eat ice cream. Oddly enough when these rules were put in place at the dinner table everyone was staring at me.

Aug 23 - 29

Ok, so my solution to the pineapple cans may not have been the best solution. I just went ahead and bought him a dozen cans of pineapple. These are chunks by the way, which are on sale and have been, at Food Max. Now when I look anywhere I either see an empty can or a lid. On the shelf in the pantry, empties. On the back lawn, empties. Behind the ac units, many empties. In the pile of leaves, empties and lids. I am kind of afraid to look on the roof, but I know what I will find if I look under the deck.

Aug 16 - 22

So, besides the fact I got sued this week by someone who claims their chair collapsed underneath them (something cut the cord to the surveillance camera the morning before she fell), besides the fact that I had to close Taylors again because my manager’s roommate tested positive for COVID (my manager tested negative), and besides the fact that the SMUD transformer went bad in front of Country Waffles which caused us to lose power and we had to throw everything in the refrigerators away, I had kind of a boring week. What about you?

Folks we need to start taking this Delta variant seriously. It is affecting young people like never before and it is so much more transmissible. Please wear your mask into the restaurant until you are seated. If you can, please ask to be seated outside. I am afraid unless everyone gets vaccinated soon and and people stop wearing masks this could blow up in our face.

Thank you.
