Barking and Masks
Let’s talk barking first. So it seems or I am told my daughter has taught our parakeet to bark like our inside dog. I was quite stunned to hear this barking sound and see the dog sleeping. My daughter took full credit, but I think the parakeet is trying to one-up the dog.
In the middle of this pandemic that is destroying so many people and businesses, we business owners have to tread water so as not to piss people off. I am sorry I said Piss, that is totally inappropriate, but I am pissed off. So many people do not want to wear masks and believe this is a total hoax. I got into an argument today with a woman who thinks this is all concocted up by the opposing party. The other day I had an equipment man come in mask-less delivering and installing a soft-serve machine. After he was there for a while I handed him a mask and asked him to wear it. I hadn’t paid him yet and so he put it on. When he was leaving I happened to walk out the back door only to see him rip it off and throw it on the ground next to our back door. Folks it is only a mask to help us get through this mess. It doesn’t need to be political but we business people have to be oh so careful not to irritate people ( is that better?). I just wonder if we will all get along when the pandemic becomes more manageable.
OK, so at Taylors in Loomis with this soft-serve machine, we are adding nondairy Dole Whip with alternating Pineapple and Orange flavors. If you feel like a drive, come try us out. We only let one party in at a time to order and we do prefer you to use a credit card over cash, and of course, you have to wear a mask to enter.
Thanks, folks. When this is over, I hope to buy everyone a beer or a Dole Whip.

“Family time is that wonderful experience where the family gets to spend time together. I feel so lucky to be able to be with my kids for about 4 months now. Who could have possibly dreamed of such a wonderful scenario?” This was written by some deranged parents that actually like their kids.
My daughter decided this morning we should go for a walk on the Johnny Cash Trail, by Folsom Dam. This is a fancy long trail however we had to drive a couple of miles just to find a place to park. When we finally did and we got on it we found it was this paved bike trail that had no shade and was mostly going uphill. My wife and I look at each other on this hot day and are trying to figure how to get out of this.
Just the other day we were walking when my daughter overheard a parent telling their children how sick and tired they were of their children. My wife and I thought the parents to be very brave to tell their children the truth. If only we were.
Ok, so we are still serving outside and to go and so far it has been good. I wish I knew what the next step would be but that is life right now. Everyone hang in there.

My son thought it would be fun to try a drone again. This would be our fifth attempt, and I thought why not. So we are working on putting it together and learning how to use the app at the dining room table. Well, the previous day my older daughter had gone out and picked an assortment of flowers and place them in a vase on the dining room table. So we think we are ready to turn this baby on and so we do. It doesn’t go up, it goes directly to the flower arrangement and starts decapitating and shredding these flowers throwing bits and pieces everywhere. It just stays there until there is nothing left but stems. Ricky and I of course are screaming at each other because we know the consequences, and then try to act nonchalant when my wife asks what is going on. Remember a few weeks ago when I spoke about what a good actor my son was when he was caught doing something wrong, well no one will ever say that about me.
Well folks we are not allowed to seat inside and as much as I hate that, it is the right decision. The cases in the county just set a new record, and I was feeling uncomfortable. So we added another row of seats outside at FlapJacks and added more seats outside at Country Waffles. Folks, it is what it is, and although none of us like this we have to stay on top of it.
So besides seating outside we are back to curbside pick up using the phone, Doordash or Chownow. Thanks for understanding.

It is such a sad state when we as seniors cannot remember where we hid the cookies. I mean it leaves us in such a precarious position because naturally, our first thought is they ate all the cookies. This is where it becomes sad. No matter how well they can act, when they give you that look like, “ok, do we put them in the nursing home now?” you know it is bad.
OK, so the thing now is to WEAR A MASK, I do not mean a Halloween mask either. You can also tell people are getting really crazy about everything right now. We had someone yell at us at FlapJacks about the mask issue, and at Taylors we had an all-out fight where my employees were trying to pull two men apart over a parking space. I think now is the time we should all be drinking more to get us through this temperamental time. When it is all done we can all meet up at an AA meeting and tell our stories.
Oh and thanks, Peggy.
